  • Tabac Shaving Soap Refill 125g

The TABAC ORIGINAL shaving soap is a legend in the traditional wet shaving community. Some argue that it's the best shaving soap ever made offering optimal slickness and protection from it's luxurious lather. Still made in Stolberg, Rhineland, Germany, this soap is a must try for every traditional wet shaver. The soap is a 125 gram refill puck and comes wrapped in foil, perfect for use in the ORIGINAL TABAC soap bowl or one of the Wooden bowls. It can also be used in a traditional wet shaving mug. I would describe the scent of Tabac as powdery tobacco flower and leather, with a backdrop of cologne-y musk. Definitely a scent that is very masculine and very polarizing, you will probably either love it or hate it. TABAC is designed to be used with a traditional shaving brush, if you are new to the wet shaving world, I would highly recommend trying a RazoRock Plissoft shaving brush, our best sellers. Both the outer box and foil wrapping are fully recyclable.

    Slick As Butter

Tabac is a product which has been around since 1959. The scent is floral, it reminds me of Mitchell’s Wool Fat/Kent. It provides an excellent, close shave without any razor burn or dryness. This soap lasts 6-8 months with daily use. It produces copious amounts of lather. Tabac makes an entire line of personal grooming products. They all smell similar. If you like one, you’ll like them all.

    Quality product, keeps scent

There's a lot of great soaps out there, but not all of them are able to hold the scent for years.

I have soaps over 5 years old that have lost their scent. For me, that's a bit of a let down, since more than half the fun in wet shaving is enjoying the scent.

I have Tabac sitting in a wooden bowl, with a loose fitting lid and it still manages to give off a scent years later. Maybe wood has absorbed the odor.

While the scent isn't for everyone, I happen to like it.
It's great for face lathering directly.
I find I don't need a bowl to make decent lather.

Note: I have many soaps, thus why a soap puck will last so long.
Plus, there's many days where I cheat and use a Barbasol canned shaving cream!

    FIVE STAR SHAVING SOAP

This Soap smells beautiful and lathers better ( and performs better ) than all the other soaps and creams in my collection of about 20 soaps. I like using many different shaving soaps but if I was only allowed to have one soap it would be this TABAC ORIGINAL.

    Amazing

The Tabac soap is a polarizing one when it comes to its scent. Either folks love or hate it. I can definitely smell why: it's not subtle. I do happen to like it a lot. However, the performance is never to be considered other than stellar. Another easy to lather, great performing soap here. Considering how long it lasts, the price is definitely not to be considered expensive.

    My current benchmark

I'm a straight razor shaver and I think straights put more of a demand on slickness and cushion than other shaving styles. That said, Tabac is my current benchmark for shave soaps in those performance areas. It's a fairly hard milled soap, but not as quite as hard as say Mitchell's or Pre de Provence. It loads well into synth, boar and badger brushes and lathers easily in many water types. You'll find a puck lasts quite a number of shaves. It has a very specific smell that some classify as flowery. I enjoy it but it doesn't work for everyone. I think every wet shaver owes it to themselves to try it however. I bought the puck to try it, but will repurchase in the bowl.
