  • Fatip Testina Gentile DE Safety Razor - Grande Black Chrome 42123

Fatip, the Italian razors with the original brass head, are handmade in Premana, district overlooking the lake Como, well known thanks to the expertise and skilled production of metals.  The well-balanced design perfectly ensures a refined, precise shaving experience.

In 2015, Fatip used their experience and expertise to develop an entire new razor head called the "Testina Gentile" or in english "Gentle Head".  Their traditional open comb design is legendary in tradionational wet shaving circles for it's efficient and aggressive shaving attributes.  The Testina Gentile is a totally different approach, it's a mild yet efficient design that flexes the blade more than average, similar to the Merkur 45 and RazoRock Baby Smooth.  Fatip has achieved all the perfect balance of efficiency and safety.

This 42123 model has a black chrome plating.

    Handmade in Premana, Italy.

    Weight: ~2.4 oz

    Handle Length: ~80 mm

    A very good razoe

This is a very good razor. It's nicely built and well made. I like that it's not very aggressive.

    Good for the money

Great razor, somewhere between mild and aggressive. The balance and weight is dead on. The blade sets perfect in the razor. I do like the Merkur 34,but this is definitely in my rotation.

    The Italian Job

Remember that iconic opening scene from the original Michael Caine classic? Matt Monro singing Don Black's haunting ballad, On Days Like These as Roger Beckerman's throws his Lamborghini Miura around the curves of the Italian Alps... only to plough headlong into a tunnel and a digger and a swift demise.

Having bought and used this slick looking Fatip I was reminded of that scene. No question this razor has the beautiful design of classy Italian sports car but it comes with the drivability of a clunky lump of metal with wheels on the edges the refinement of a Ford Edsel. Cornering was a nightmare and just as the previous reviewer pointed out. The paintwork flaked off. Go for some of the Razorock's own brand razors. They are way better daily runners with some slick oomph under the hood.

    A nice two-tone razor

A really smooth and efficient razor once you get the angle right. The grooves in the comb are deep enough that this is really somewhere between an open & closed comb design.
My only reservation is that blade alignment is not great - it is possible to have an edge hanging beyond the comb - ouch..
Also the gun-metal coating looks fab, but lasts through about 5 shaves. Mine now has a chrome silver streaks along each side - kinda like badger stripes which is strangely appropriate.
