Santa Maria del Fiore Sapone da Barba is a very soft traditional Italian shaving soap, some people call this style of soap a "firm cream." It is intended to be used with a shaving brush. You may either scoop out a dollop, place it into a shaving bowl/mug and proceed to bowl-lather or you can load the soap directly onto the brush by gentling swirling a damp brush right on top of the soap in the jar, then proceed to create the lather right on your face. Please note, if you introduce water into the soap, make sure to allow the soap to fully dry prior to covering it again with the lid; if you don't allow the soap to dry you run the risk of ruining it. For Santa Maria del Fiore we wanted to create a very traditional packaging so we used a heavy glass jar and a special kraft labels. Kraft labels, although beautiful, are not waterproof so be careful not to damage the label if loading the brush directly on the soap.
Ingredients: Stearic Acid, Aqua (Water/Eau), Cocos Nucifera(Coconut) Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Hydroxide, Fragrance(Parfum), Eucalyptus Globolus Oil, Menthol, Camphor, Lanolin
Size: 200ml / 6.8 FL oz - Heavy Glass Jar with Luxurious Plastic Lid - NEW Size and Packaging in 2025
Scent: Tabacco Toscano Colonia; think Toscano cigar with hints of vanilla, amber and a backdrop of eucalyptus and menthol.
Made in Italy (of course!)
NOTE: Please note that the Shaving Soap label color may note match the Aftershave label for this item as they were made in different batches.

If you are ordering this soap in the summer months, please be aware that the soap is very soft and can melt and separate if left inside a hot postal truck or hot mailbox for an extended period of time. Please leave the soap indoors at room temperature for 1 day and it will settle back to its original consistency. For those living in extremely hot climates like the southern USA (in the summer), it's probably best to order this product in the cooler months of the year where normal outside temperatures are below 80F.

I've put off trying Santa Maria del Fiore for years, mainly because it is often sold out. I finally decided to try some on my last order. I will admit, when I first opened the jar to check the scent, I was not too impressed. It wasn't bad, just nothing to write home about. But I gave it a try, amd my goodness, when I applied hot water and starting mixing it with my brush, it came to life! All of these very pleasant aromas started coming out, that I couldn't sense when the soap was dry in the jar! I was really liking it. But of course, all the wonderful aromas in the world won't do it any good if it doesn't well. So how did it perform? Well, it did not disappoint, not at all. I was very pleased with the lather, the lubrication, etc. In fact, I have no complaints at all about this soap. I still can't make up my mind which is my favorite; I'm always rotating between a few different soaps each time I shave, but this one will definitely be a permanent member of that rotation.
First, I want to say the soap itself has nothing wrong with it, is slick as H... impressive cushion and superb scent.
it is my first RR soap and the only regret I have is I should´ve bought it sooner.
I´ve read that the label isn´t waterproof but seems like isn´t longer true. (I don’t want to test it and be wrong, so I´ll keep it away from the water just in case)
The one star taken off was not because of the soap itself, but because of whomever packed it for shipping took the time to pack it in a smaller box with shipping peanuts at all, BUT put a top razor cap I bought inside with it, damaging the soap lid and label, that kind of bothered me when I saw it. other than that, I´m happy with the purchase.
