The RazoRock team is proud to bring you our Gen3 Hawk, fully milled from 316L marine-grade stainless steel. The Gen3 version is offered in three different levels of aggression.

    1. Standard Hawk which is perfect for those seeking a medium aggressive shave
    2. Hawk "OC" which is a level up in aggression and offers an open comb base with widely spaced teeth to easily tackle many days of beard growth
    3. Hawk "A" which is our most aggressive Hawk design offering the largest blade gap for those seeking the most efficiency

Material: 316L Marine Grade Stainless Steel

Finish: 3 stage, 24 hour, machine vibratory finish. It's important to note that our finish is designed to de-burr and make the pieces smooth with minimum effect on machining tolerances. It's a tool-like finish and not a mirror-type high polish; each piece is unique (no two pieces will be identical). We don't believe in hand polishing our machined safety razors because it's self-defeating. We spend so much time and effort getting the tolerances tight, a hand polish will just ruin these tolerances. We would rather give you a quality tool-like finish at a great price and leave it up to you if you want to put a jewelry type polish or gun-kote at the razor later at additional cost.

Other Details: Each razor is engraved with a unique serial number.

    Hawk V3 base plate

I opted to buy the base plate and top cap as I already have a few handles. This is my first exposure to AC shaving. I'm impressed. I have been using Schick blades. I find the V3 to not be as aggressive as the Wunderbar but more efficient. It took a few shaves to get it right. I was trying too hard at first. I've found I can get a really good shave on a single pass with a new blade. Four shaves in and the blade calms down a bit but is extremely smooth. I only add passes when required. I've had no irritation using this razor. The head is fairly compact and fits under the nose well.

I first bought the Standard Hawk Razor first. I am new to the SE world. I was happy with the Hawk Std. Wider cutting area can sure speed things up. I was used a Captain Titan Mild Protouch MG blade. I managed 9 shaves with that blade, found it got less and less efficient at cutting after 6 shaves.

I did however found the Standard to be mild, and even felt stubble sooner than I am used to with a more aggressive razor such as The Lupo 72, or even a EJ89. I tried a Feather Pro for a shave and it was about the same results. Started to look at the Hawk OC and "A" plate reviews online. Other people report the "A" is not as aggressive as the OC. Although the IB razor chart shows otherwise. As usual YMMV.

I grew a 7 day beard and shaved it off no problems with the A Plate. Closer shave for sure. lot Less feathering for my desired results I want. BBS or near BBS. I didn't find it overly aggressive TBH. My Lupo DC can get me in more trouble than I found with this. I used a Feather Pro, by no means am I Feather fan boy, but it did a good job. (Second use out of blade) Very happy with the "A" Plate so far. May get the OC but only for collection reasons at this point.

A few other notes, I have borderline sensitive skin, If you can handle a EJ89 , Merkur closed comb, MJ90A, than this should not be much of an issue. There is a bit of a learning curve, don't slip sideways ;o) but if you have several months of DE exp you can likely figure this head out.. DFU and YMMV!
