    Introduced in 1959, Tabac Original by Maurer & Wirtz has long been considered by many men to be a staple grooming product.  The old-school brand is a household name in Germany, similar to Old Spice in the USA and Proraso in Italy.  Tabac is well known as a traditional masculine brand that has been used by generations of men and typically passed on from Father to Son; it remains extremely popular today.  Tabac Shaving Cream is one of the most widely regarded creams among traditional wet shavers and you can often see "Shave of the day" photos celebrating "Tabac Tuesdays", a day of the week where many traditional wet shavers dedicate their shaves to the storied brand.

    Pleasantly Surprised

    My beard type is thick and course. I prefer creams over soaps for that very reason. I generally use Taylor of Old Bond Street for it's thick and heavy presents on my face. I have tried other creams in a tube and have found that they're more soap like than creams. This one being no exception. So I was a little disappointed. I went ahead a gave it a try. The smell reminds me of A&D ointment with out the bitter notes. The lather was very lite and soapy...took me a while. Here's where I became surprised. As I started to shave (not new/not old blade) I noticed it was pretty comfortable. I got a great shave out of it! That's what I (we) look for out of any shaving product. I then noticed how well my skin felt. Like I already applied a good aftershave lotion. So in the end I give this product a 5 star rating. You get a great shave and your skin feels amazing with no need for after care products. Good stuff!
